Presentation (Personal Reading History, Class Norms, Scientific Method Lab)
Mooooo-ving Milk Lab

Homework:
  • Bring spiral notebook next class period
  • Read CMS Student Lab Safety Contract & return signed safety contract (follow the links) POP QUIZ over this next week
  • “Stump the Teacher” text sample
  • Mooooo-ving Milk Bonus Option
Test a different variable at home. You don’t have to write this report up, you can create a video using your phone. (Think Food
Network cooking show, but more SCIENCE !) You must discuss the following in your presentation:
-Describe the variable (independent variable) you are changing
-Explain what you think will happen AND WHY.
-Discuss your procedure, make sure your video is showing the experiment
-Discuss your results…if your hypothesis wasn’t correct, why do you think that is?
Bring to our next class period and let me see it!
* Chemistry Unit page completed by 8/28 You should be able to explain why you designed it as you did. (This is the first page in the Chemistry section of your notebook, you need to cover it with images/drawings that you feel represent the field of Chemistry. Start thinking about what you want on the page. You can draw on the page when the notebook is set up next class, or you can begin designing it on the computer, print it off and glue it to the page in your notebook.)

8/26-27

Homework:
Cut out or print a news article related to science, write a brief summary of the article

Atoms Family Album (35%) due 9/14)

•create a "family" album for an atomic family with a page/section for each member listed below. This is an ANALOGY (like Cell City in 7th grade). Be creative and think outside the box (is your family a band, sports team, TV show, ....?). You can fold the album together in a way that you would like, but it must have room for all 6 family members

• YOU MUST INCLUDE:

a representative drawing/printed picture and a description of the following family members:

–PROTON, NEUTRON, ELECTRON, ION, (both anion (-) & cation (+) must be represented) & ISOTOPE
